Abstract

The sample of the study comprised 41 second-year students majoring in the English language at the University of Sudan of Science and Technology. The first encouraging result is the fact that there is a positive and significant correlation at the level of 0.005 between the breadth of vocabulary and reading comprehension with a correlation value of 0.347. A situation which entails that the students have to be conversant in vocabulary knowledge through excessive exposure to texts rich in authentic vocabulary.
